Meet Kaylen Tannehill: Quality Assurance Engineer

QA Engineer Kaylen

Our Meet the Team series showcases the brilliant and talented experts at Virtualitics who are dedicated to empowering organizations with AI-driven analytics and applications.

“My approach involves testing the software in unconventional ways to uncover issues,” Kaylen Tannehill, a Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer at Virtualitics, explains. “The primary goal of our team is to adopt the perspective of our customers and explore creative, out-of-the-box methods to thoroughly test and challenge the software.”

With her Computer Science background and a passion for exploring ways to make technology better, Kaylen’s day-to-day work involves collaborating closely with Virtualitics’ talented developers and engineers, identifying and addressing areas where the software needs improvement or refinement, and then intentionally breaking things to determine how best to stop them from breaking again.

Kaylen’s career in QA began at a telecommunications company, where she worked on two key projects. “I was responsible for testing a job scheduling app for installation and repair technicians, optimizing it for phones and tablets,” she recalls. “I also tested the Interactive Virtual Response (IVR) phone answering service software used by a wide range of customers. This project also gave me the opportunity to develop automated scripts for data retrieval and validation.”

Bringing a Fresh Perspective on QA

Kaylen now brings her multifaceted experience to her role at Virtualitics. From manually testing new features to ensure they function correctly to conducting in-depth re-evaluations of existing features, Kaylen’s work is crucial for maintaining the quality of Virtualitics’ products. She is also deeply involved in creating and running automated scripts for functional and scalability testing.

“By automating our testing, we can enhance our test coverage and efficiency significantly. This allows our developers to make fixes and improvements much faster,” she notes. “In fact, a big goal we have for the future is achieving 100% automation coverage for all our commercial products. This will help us get new products out to customers faster and provide them with important updates when they need them.”

While Kaylen is excited about the upcoming product releases at Virtualitics, what she most looks forward to isn’t just the technology—it’s also the people. “I love working with my colleagues on the QA team. They made me feel at home from day one, and their dedication and hard work inspire me every day.”
